After a late-night tabletop session played over video chat from his brother Mike’s apartment, Jason wakes alone in the woods to find the impossible has happened: he is no longer Jason at all, but Aria Silverleaf, the beautiful elven sorceress he created for the game, complete with pointed ears, a very unfamiliar body, and powers that should only exist on a character sheet. Scattered around him are dice, notes, and the sheets from the previous night, as if reality itself has decided to honor the campaign. Getting home is only the first problem, because Mike is absolutely not going to believe that the curvy elf woman at his door is his brother, while Sera—Jason’s longtime friend, fellow player, and perhaps-not-entirely-straight confidante—may have her own complicated reaction to Aria’s new appearance. As the only known magical being in 2026 America, Aria must figure out how to survive public scrutiny, wield very real sorcery without destroying anything important, reconcile Jason’s old identity with a body and life that increasingly feel like her own, and answer a question no RPG ever prepared her for: can an ordinary Midwestern guy actually build a happy life after becoming an elf lady in a world where elves aren’t supposed to exist?
