The Mask Cracks

Neha's mouth works Arshad's cock in the dim shadows of Auntie Shobha's front room, her eyes locked on his as she hears the old woman's satisfied hum behind her. Arshad's hand tightens in her hair, a silent signal, and he pulls her off just enough to whisper, 'Don't let her see you smile.' Neha swallows the tremor in her throat and takes him deeper, her tongue tracing the vein she knows makes him shudder, while Auntie Shobha steps closer, the phone's red light blinking. 'Enough,' the old woman snaps, but Arshad ignores her, his thumb brushing Neha's cheek in a gesture that feels almost tender before he shoves her head back down. Neha's hands grip his thighs, and she knows—she will give Auntie Shobha the show she wants, but every moan, every suck, is for him alone.

Neha's lips slid down Arshad's length, the salt of him familiar now on her tongue, and she kept her eyes raised to his face the way he'd taught her that first night. The dim bulb caught the sheen on his dark skin, traced the hard planes of his chest where his thin vest had been pushed aside, and she watched his jaw tighten as she took him deeper.

Behind her, Auntie Shobha's silver anklet jingled as she shifted her weight. The sound was a small, sharp thing in the incense-thick air, and Neha felt the old woman's gaze like a hand on the back of her neck. She kept her rhythm steady, her hand wrapped around the base of him, her mouth working the length she couldn't take.

Arshad's fingers tightened in her hair. Not a yank. A signal. He pulled her off just enough that his cock slid from her lips with a wet sound, and he leaned down, his mouth at her ear.

"Don't let her see you smile."

The words were barely a breath, rough and low, and Neha felt the truth of them in her chest. She had been smiling. Not with her mouth — her mouth was otherwise occupied — but in her eyes. In the set of her face. In the way she looked at him like he was hers and she was his and the old woman with her blinking red light was nothing but noise.

Neha swallowed the tremor in her throat and lowered her head again. She took him deeper this time, her tongue tracing the vein on the underside that she knew made his breath hitch. She had learned that vein in the dark of her bedroom, learned the exact pressure and the exact speed, and she used it now like a key.

Arshad's breath did hitch. She felt it in the way his stomach tightened under her palm, in the slight tilt of his hips toward her mouth. His hand stayed in her hair, not guiding, just holding, and she felt the shift in him — the way he stopped performing for the camera and started taking what was his.

The red light on Auntie Shobha's phone blinked steadily, casting a small red dot on the marble floor beside Neha's knee. She could see it in her peripheral vision, that tiny eye, and she knew the old woman was watching every angle, cataloging every degradation for whatever use she planned to make of it.

Let her watch, Neha thought. Let her record.

Her lip gloss had smeared across Arshad's cock, catching the dim light, and she saw him notice it too. His eyes dropped to her mouth, to the shine on his skin, and something dark moved behind his gaze. He liked that. Liked the evidence of her on him, the claim she left without meaning to.

"Enough," Auntie Shobha snapped from behind her. "Arshad, you've had your fun. We have things to discuss."

Arshad didn't move. His thumb brushed Neha's cheek — a gesture that felt almost tender, almost private, a secret pressed into her skin — and then his hand tightened in her hair and he shoved her head back down.

Neha's hands gripped his thighs, her nails pressing into the hard muscle, and she took him deep, her throat relaxing around him the way she'd practiced in the dark when she was alone and aching for him. The old woman's voice cut the air again, sharper now, but Neha barely heard it. She was somewhere else entirely, somewhere that was only her and him and the rhythm of her mouth on his body.

She would give Auntie Shobha the show she wanted. Every moan, every wet sound, every shameless display of her own corruption. But it was all for him. Every suck, every lick, every time she took him deeper than she needed to. It was for the way his breath caught. For the way his fingers tightened in her hair. For the way he looked at her like she was the only thing in the room worth seeing.

The old woman was still talking. Something about the video, about Vikram, about the money she was owed. Neha heard the words like she heard the ceiling fan clicking overhead — background noise, the hum of a world that didn't matter.

Arshad's hips moved, a small, controlled thrust that pushed him deeper into her throat, and Neha's eyes watered. She didn't pull back. She took it, her hands steady on his thighs, her throat working around him, and she felt his shudder run through his whole body.

"Arshad!" Auntie Shobha's voice was a whip crack now. "I said enough. We have planning to do — tonight is important. The guest will be here in a few hours."

Arshad's hand tightened in Neha's hair, holding her there for one heartbeat, two. The red light blinked. The incense curled. Neha's knees pressed into the cool marble, and she felt the ache in them, the familiar burn of kneeling too long, and she didn't care.

Then he pulled her off. Slowly. Deliberately. Her lips released him with a wet pop, and she stayed there, on her knees, looking up at him with her smeared lip gloss and her swollen mouth and her eyes that told him everything she couldn't say out loud.

Auntie Shobha stepped closer, her worn saree rustling, her sharp eyes moving between them. "Good. Now —"

"She's not done."

Arshad's voice was flat, cool, the voice he used when he was playing the role the old woman expected. But his eyes were on Neha, and there was something else in them, something that made her breath catch.

Auntie Shobha's mouth tightened. "She's done when I say she's done. We have work to do, and she needs to be presentable when the guest arrives."

"The guest." Arshad's gaze didn't move from Neha's face. "Right. The guest you've been so careful not to name."

"You don't need to know his name. You need to follow my instructions, the way we agreed."

"And what exactly did we agree on?"

Neha heard the edge in his voice, the careful restraint that meant he was holding something back. She stayed still on her knees, her hands resting on her thighs, her heart beating a slow, steady rhythm in her chest. She was the show. She was the weapon. She was the thing the old woman thought she controlled.

And she was his.

That was the secret Auntie Shobha didn't know. That was the card Arshad held that she couldn't see. Neha had chosen him — not as the old woman's tool, not as a broken wife, but as his. And every time she knelt, every time she opened her mouth, every time she let the camera capture her shame, she was choosing him again.

The old woman's phone buzzed in her hand. She glanced down at it, her frown deepening, and Neha saw her opportunity.

She leaned forward, her hand finding Arshad's thigh, her fingers tracing the hard muscle through his thin cotton pants. She didn't take him in her mouth again — not yet. She just touched him, her fingertips light on his skin, and she watched his jaw tighten.

"What are you doing?" Auntie Shobha's voice was sharp, distracted, her eyes still on her phone.

"She's waiting for your instructions," Arshad said smoothly. "Aren't you, memsahib?"

The word was a knife wrapped in silk. Memsahib. The title she'd had when she was still respectable, still untouchable, still the wife of a cricketer who didn't know his home had been invaded. Now it was a mockery, a reminder of everything she'd lost and everything she'd chosen to lose.

Neha looked up at him, her hand still on his thigh, and she let him see the truth in her eyes. "Yes," she said softly. "I'm waiting."

Auntie Shobha looked up from her phone, her eyes narrowing. She didn't like the tone. Didn't like the way Neha wasn't cowering, wasn't weeping, wasn't playing the broken victim she'd expected.

"Get up," she said sharply. "Go clean yourself up. And put on something appropriate for tonight."

Neha didn't move. Her eyes stayed on Arshad's, and she felt the current between them, the thing that hummed in the air when they were close, the thing that had been there since the moment she'd fallen down those stairs and into his arms.

"Did you hear me?" Auntie Shobha's voice rose. "I said get up."

Arshad's hand moved, almost imperceptibly, a small gesture that said wait. And Neha waited. She stayed on her knees on the cold marble, her lip gloss smeared, her mouth swollen, her body aching with the familiar need that only he could answer.

The old woman's face twisted with something that might have been frustration. She looked from Neha to Arshad and back again, and for a moment, Neha saw a flicker of doubt in her sharp eyes. The old woman wasn't stupid. She knew something had shifted. She just didn't know what.

"Arshad," she said, her voice dropping to something cold and controlled. "Control your whore. We have business to attend to."

His whore. The words landed in Neha's chest like stones, but she didn't flinch. She was his. She had said it herself, kneeling in this very room, with the camera recording and the old woman watching. She had said it and meant it, and no amount of degradation could take that from her.

Arshad's hand found her chin, tilting her face up to his. His thumb traced her lower lip, wiping away the smear of gloss, and his eyes were dark and unreadable.

"You heard her," he said, his voice low. "Go clean yourself up."

But his thumb lingered on her lip, and his eyes said something else entirely. Go. But come back. Come back to me.

Neha rose on unsteady legs, her knees aching from the marble, her body humming with the need he'd awakened and left unsatisfied. She felt the old woman's gaze on her as she moved toward the door, felt the weight of the camera that had recorded her shame, and she didn't look back.

She walked down the hall to the bathroom, her bare feet silent on the cool floor, and she closed the door behind her. In the mirror, she saw herself — the smeared lip gloss, the flushed cheeks, the marks on her neck from the night before.

She looked like a woman who had been thoroughly, completely claimed.

And she was. She was his. And tonight, when the guest arrived and the old woman sprang whatever trap she'd been planning, Neha would be ready. Because Arshad had told her to act scared, to act broken, to give the old woman the show she wanted.

But the show was theirs. Every moan, every tear, every shameless display of submission. It was all part of the mask they wore together, the mask that would bring Auntie Shobha's plans crashing down around her.

Neha turned on the tap, letting the cold water run over her wrists. In the hall, she heard the old woman's voice, low and urgent, and Arshad's deeper response. She couldn't make out the words, but she didn't need to. She knew the shape of the conversation. The old woman was planning. Arshad was playing his part.

And she was waiting. Waiting to be called back. Waiting to kneel again. Waiting for the moment when the mask would crack and the truth would come out.

Her hand drifted to her throat, to the bruise Arshad had left there, and she smiled. Small. Private. A smile the old woman would never see.

The water ran cold over her wrists, and in the mirror, her reflection smiled back at her — a woman who had chosen her fall, and who would rise from it on her own terms.
