Years of being "just friends" shatters when Han, now a K-pop idol, introduces Kelsey to his bandmates and a member asks to flirt with her. His possessive reply reveals a truth they've both denied: their easy intimacy has a sharp, jealous edge.
Jisung’s pov. Honestly he hated Arizona already. It wasn’t as close to LA as he had hoped and it was hot as fuck in a bad way. The people were all stuck up and he was stuck with a band nerd kid in his host family. Not even a cool one. Then he had seen her in her car, with a high ponytail and music taste that clashed with the sparkly cheer outfit.
Jisung’s pov. He’s sitting in his bed, unable to sleep. Of course he has a bedtime. Fucking Timothy, his host brother. It’s a Friday night at 10 and he’s in bed. He texts her because none of his friends are answering.
Kelsey’s pov. She saw him at school on Monday. Poor kid waiting for the band nerd to get out. She goes hey, you want to get out of here? I don’t have to go into work today. (She works for her dad and the guy she works with called and said not to come in.)
Jisung’s pov. Over the next month, they hang out a lot. They get close. He comes over to hang out while she babysits her siblings which means talking about cartoons with her younger brother, Jace, and watching movies with her younger sister, Tenley. She takes him to normal parties, not band ones. She shows him the good food.
Kelsey’s pov. Months passed. The elephant in the room stayed and both of them carefully ignored it. They still sat close at hangouts. She liked him being close, it chased off guys who tried to hit on her. Her mom started putting out a plate for him on nights he usually came over. Her other brother, Kohl who was 12, tried to teach him how to play air hockey on the table they had in the basement. The puck ended up in the wall. He was welcomed into her friend group. They’d hold hands during scary movies because she hated them and she’d always end up hiding in his shoulder. They looked like a couple. They never got close to kissing.
