His omega is hiding something. Jae-hyun notices everything—the way Xinyi pushes his untouched plate away, the extra hours spent sleeping in the guest room he calls his own. But Xinyi just smiles and blames exam stress, never complaining about the transaction that keeps him in the penthouse. Now the formidable Alpha CEO must crack through his own ruthless walls to care for the fragile college student whose addictive pheromones have him hooked—without ever admitting why.
The penthouse is silent when Jae-hyun steps off the elevator, his keys landing in the bowl with a single chime. Xinyi's usual spot on the couch is empty. He finds the omega in the private room, a grey blanket pulled up to his chin, lamp on, untouched water on the nightstand. Xinyi's eyes flutter open when the door creaks—hazy, dark-rimmed. 'I'm fine, don't worry about me.' he says first, which means he's not. Jae-hyun doesn't answer. He crosses his arms and leans against the doorframe. He thinks of what to say or do. He's never cared about anything before. But he wants to take care of Xinyi. He doesn't want to leave him.
(Lu Xinyi First POV) (Lots of inner monologue) (lots of dialogue) (lots of sarcasm and dry humour) Xinyi wakes up to soft morning light. He stretches his arms. He feels better. His mouth tastes disgusting. He sits up and looks around. The room temperature is increased and more pillows are on his bed. He looks at the arm chair—no tie or anything. Hm. He then gets up and goes to the bathroom. When he comes back, Jae-hyun is there, on his phone, but puts it away when Xinyi arrives. "Aren't you going to work..?" Xinyi asks. But Jae-hyun is in a black shirt and casual black lounge pants instead. Xinyi is suspicious. He keeps thinking that Jae-hyun wants sex. But Jae-hyun just wants to care for his sick omega.
