Midnight Abduction
Rain lashes the grimy apartment window, distorting the streetlights below into hellish halos. Lily presses her palms against the cold glass, her breath fogging the pane as shadows detach from the alley across the street. Two hulking figures in tattered leather drag a struggling woman by her hair, her screams swallowed by the storm. 'No, please—' The woman's cry cuts off as a third guard clamps a hand over her mouth. Lily's eyes flash molten gold, her fingers curling into fists. The lamp on her nightstand rattles, then lifts an inch off the wood. 'Stop,' she whispers to herself, but the power thrums in her veins. Downstairs, Meredith slams a bottle on the table. 'Quit your staring, girl! It's just the weekly haul.'
