The deadbolt clicked home, and Katherine stood in the foyer's dim light, watching Emily's silhouette against the streetlamp—the curve of her hip, the cascade of red hair catching the glow like spun copper. Her pulse was steady, but something beneath it hummed, that low current she'd learned to recognize these past months as pure want. She crossed the room in three strides, took Emily's hand, and pulled her toward the stairs, feeling the answering squeeze of those soft fingers. The house was quiet around them, the children asleep, the world reduced to the creak of the third step and the whisper of Emily's sundress against her thighs.
At the bedroom threshold, Katherine stopped and turned. Her gaze traveled down Emily's body—the full breasts rising beneath the thin cotton, the narrow waist, the hips that swayed even when she stood still—and she let the heat of it settle in her own belly before she spoke. "You gave everything to those walls," she said, her voice low and certain, the words landing like a verdict. "Now let me give it back to you." Emily's lips parted, that perpetual gasp she wore now, and Katherine watched the hunger flicker in her green eyes before she guided her to the bed. The velvet curtains held the night out, the woodsmoke and old books wrapping them in something ancient and familiar.
Her fingers found the hem of Emily's shirt, and she felt the answering heat rise as she leaned in—that first brush of lips against skin, the salt of the hospital still clinging to Emily's collarbone. Katherine's mind raced beneath the calm surface: this body before her had once been her husband, had held her through twenty years of quiet nights and louder fights, and now it arched into her touch like a thing made for it. The strangeness of it had long since burned away, leaving only this—the soft gasp as her mouth found the hollow of Emily's throat, the way those hands gripped her shoulders, the small sound Emily made that was half pleasure, half relief. She worked the shirt up slowly, revealing the pale skin beneath, the gentle swell of breasts that had never been her husband's but belonged to her all the same.
"You're shaking," Katherine murmured against her skin, and Emily's laugh was breathless, fractured. "I watched you pour yourself into those walls," Katherine continued, her lips tracing down to the lace edge of Emily's bra. "I watched you empty out. And I thought—" She paused, her fingers finding the clasp, the word catching in her throat. "I thought about how brave you are. How you keep giving until there's nothing left." The bra came away, and Katherine pulled back just enough to look at her—the flushed cheeks, the parted lips, the eyes that held a lifetime of wanting and being wanted. "But you don't have to be brave here. You don't have to give anything." Her hand slid down Emily's stomach, feeling the muscles flutter beneath her palm. "Tonight, you take."
Emily's breath hitched, and Katherine felt the shift in the air between them—the surrender that wasn't a loss but a gift. She lowered her mouth to Emily's breast, taking the nipple between her lips, and felt the answering arch of that spine, the seven seeds along it pulsing with something that wasn't hunger. For now, it was enough. For now, the walls held the darkness, and Katherine held Emily, and the night stretched out before them like a promise neither of them needed to speak. She would fill Emily back up, drop by drop, until there was nothing left of the empty woman who had walked out of that hospital room.
Her fingers found the lace waistband of Emily's underwear, and she felt the answering shiver run through the body beneath her—that involuntary tremor that told her everything she needed to know. Katherine hooked her thumbs into the fabric and drew it down slowly, deliberately, savoring the way Emily's hips lifted to help her, the way the cotton caught on the swell of her thighs before sliding free. The garment came away in her hand, warm and faintly damp, and she let it fall to the floor without looking at it. Her gaze stayed fixed on what she'd uncovered—the pale skin of Emily's inner thighs, the dark red curls already slick with need, the way her body opened and softened under the weight of being seen.
Katherine pressed her lips to the inside of Emily's left thigh, just above the knee, and felt the muscle jump beneath her mouth. She traced upward with her tongue, slow and patient, tasting the salt of the hospital still lingering on that skin, the faint sweetness of the soap from the hotel bathroom hours ago. Her mind wandered as she moved—to the woman in the supply closet, drained and empty, who had taken her into her mouth like a lifeline; to the creature of power who had commanded darkness into walls; to the husband who had once held her through twenty years of nights. All of them were here, in this body, trembling under her lips. "I watched you give everything away," she murmured against the skin, feeling Emily's breath catch. "Your power. Your strength. Your whole self, poured into those cold walls." She kissed higher, her mouth dragging against the heat radiating from between Emily's legs. "I'm going to make sure you remember who you are when you're empty."
Emily's hands found her hair, fingers threading through the honey-blond strands, gripping just enough to pull her closer. Katherine felt the tug like a current, and she let it guide her, her lips moving to the other thigh, mirroring the path she'd taken on the left. She could feel the tremor running through Emily's whole body now, the seven seeds along her spine pulsing in rhythm with her heartbeat, and Katherine slowed deliberately—drawing out every inch of the journey. The scent of her was intoxicating, that particular musk that belonged to Emily alone, and Katherine breathed it in deep as she hovered at the edge of where Emily needed her most. She wanted to memorize this moment: the way the dim light caught the red curls, the way Emily's chest rose and fell in short, shallow gasps, the way her hips had begun to roll in a rhythm she didn't seem to control.
"Please," Emily breathed, and the word cracked something open in Katherine's chest. Not because she was begging—but because she had heard that same voice, stripped of all pretense, only once before: the night Emily had first revealed what she had become, terrified and raw and wholly hers. Katherine looked up the length of that body, meeting Emily's green eyes, and saw the hunger there—not the desperate need of the seeds, but something older and more human. "Not yet," she said, her voice low and certain. "I want to feel you come apart slowly tonight. I want to watch the power come back into you piece by piece." She lowered her mouth to the very edge of that wet heat, close enough to feel the warmth radiating against her lips, close enough to taste the first hint of it on her tongue—and stopped there, hovering, letting the anticipation draw itself out like a wire pulled taut.
Emily's hips bucked, seeking contact that didn't come, and a sound escaped her—half whimper, half plea—that Katherine felt in her own belly like a physical thing. She ran her hands up Emily's thighs, feeling the muscles quiver under her palms, and pressed her lips to the skin just beside where Emily burned for her, a deliberate tease that made the redhead gasp and arch. "You gave everything to those walls," Katherine repeated, her breath hot against that slick skin. "But you kept this. You kept yourself." She kissed the crease where thigh met hip, slow and deep, and felt Emily's whole body shudder. "And I'm going to remind you, inch by inch, exactly what that's worth."
Katherine's hands found Emily's hips, and she turned her with a firm, unhurried pressure—a silent command that Emily obeyed without hesitation. The redhead's body rolled onto her stomach, her full breasts pressing into the sheets, her spine curving in a long, sinuous arch that made the seven seeds pulse visibly beneath her skin. Katherine's gaze traveled down that length of bare back, over the swell of her ass, to the dark red curls already slick with need, and she felt her own pulse quicken in her throat. Emily's feet hung off the edge of the bed, toes barely brushing the floor, hips lifted in a silent offering that made Katherine's mouth go dry. She knelt behind her, the silk of her robe pooling around her knees, and ran her hands up the backs of Emily's thighs, feeling the muscles quiver under her palms.
"Beautiful," Katherine murmured, more to herself than to Emily, her voice thick with wonder. She parted the cheeks with her thumbs, exposing that hidden entrance—the puckered ring of muscle that her magic had cleansed earlier, rendered impossibly soft and yielding. The sight of it made her breath catch: this was a part of Emily she had never touched, never even thought to touch in all their years together, and now it opened to her like a secret finally confessed. She leaned in and dragged her tongue from the very base of Emily's clit, through the slick heat of her slit, all the way up to that tight rose, and felt the answering shudder run through Emily's whole body. The taste of her was intoxicating—salt and honey and something darker, something that belonged to this new body alone.
She did it again, slower this time, letting her tongue linger at that puckered entrance before circling it with deliberate, lazy strokes. Emily's gasp was muffled against the sheets, her fingers twisting in the fabric, her hips pressing back in a rhythm that begged for more. Katherine felt the power of the moment settle into her like a second heartbeat: this was not the husband she had known, not the woman who had poured herself into cold hospital walls, but something between—a creature of hunger and grace who arched under her tongue like a thing made for worship. She lapped lower, dragging her tongue through that slick slit to the swollen nub at its peak, and felt Emily's whole body clench. "You taste like you've been saving this for me," Katherine said against her skin, her voice rough. "Like you knew I'd come looking."
She worked her tongue in long, unbroken strokes that traveled the full length of Emily's sex, from clit to asshole and back again, tasting the salt of her arousal and the clean, warm musk of the body she had made. The rhythm became hypnotic, a slow tide that built with each pass, and Katherine felt Emily's thighs begin to tremble around her head. She pressed her tongue flat against that tight entrance, feeling the muscle flutter against her, and was rewarded with a moan that seemed to come from somewhere deep in Emily's chest—a sound of surrender that Katherine wanted to bottle and keep. "I want to feel you come apart on my tongue," she murmured, pulling back just enough to breathe the words against that slick skin. "Every inch of you, taken apart piece by piece, until there's nothing left but the sound you make when you let go."
Emily's hand found the back of her head, fingers threading through the honey-blond strands, gripping just hard enough to hold her there. "Then don't stop," Emily breathed, her voice wrecked and raw. "Please. Don't stop." Katherine obeyed, her tongue diving back into that wet heat, lapping in long, possessive strokes that claimed every inch of what Emily offered. She felt the seeds along Emily's spine pulse in rhythm with her heartbeat, felt the power stirring in the room like a held breath, and knew—with a certainty that had nothing to do with magic—that this was the moment Emily would remember when the darkness came calling again. She pressed deeper into that tight ring, tasting the edge of something she had never known, and felt Emily's whole body begin to shake with the force of what was building inside her.
Katherine's tongue circled that tight rose again, slower this time, savoring the way Emily's whole body bowed into the sheets. Her fingers found their way lower, sliding through the slick heat of that slit until they reached the swollen nub at its peak, and she began to work it in a steady, rhythmic motion that matched the strokes of her tongue. She felt Emily's hips begin to roll against her hand, that unconscious rhythm of a body that had stopped thinking and started feeling, and Katherine let herself sink into the repetition of it—the wet sound of her tongue against that entrance, the soft, breathy moans that fell from Emily's lips, the way the redhead's fingers twisted in the sheets like she was holding on for dear life. The scent of her was overwhelming now, a heady perfume that seemed to intensify with every pass of Katherine's tongue.
And then she caught it—something beneath the musk, a sweetness that didn't quite belong. She paused, her tongue still pressed against that tight ring, and breathed in deep through her nose. Lavender. And something else, something fruity and bright that she couldn't quite place until it clicked. Raspberries. The chuckle escaped her before she could stop it, a low, warm sound that vibrated against Emily's skin and made the redhead shiver. She pulled back just enough to look at the glistening flesh before her—the dark red curls, the slick folds, the tight rose still quivering from her tongue—and she understood. Emily had used her magic on herself, the same way she'd cleansed the hospital room, the same way she'd shaped her own body into something new. She had made herself smell like a garden in summer, like the jam Katherine's mother used to make, like every soft and tender thing she had ever loved.
"You beautiful, ridiculous woman," Katherine murmured, her breath hot against that slick skin, and she felt Emily's laugh tremble through her thighs. She pressed her fingers deeper into that wet heat, two of them sliding in with a slick, easy glide, curling against that spot she knew made Emily gasp. "You made yourself smell like a dessert." Emily's only answer was a moan, her hips pressing back against Katherine's hand, seeking more. Katherine obliged, her fingers working in a steady rhythm while her tongue returned to that tight rose, probing deeper now, tasting the edge of something that was part lavender, part raspberry, and entirely, impossibly Emily. The incongruity of it—the sacred and the absurd tangled together in one body—made her chuckle again, even as her own arousal pooled hot and heavy in her belly.
"I could eat you forever," Katherine said against her skin, the words rough and honest, and she meant them in a way that surprised her. She meant the taste of her, the smell of her, the way Emily's body opened under her hands like a flower turning toward the sun. She meant the girl who had been a man, the judge who had been a husband, the creature of power who had poured herself into cold hospital walls and then let Katherine fill her back up. She worked her fingers faster, curling and thrusting in a rhythm that made Emily's thighs clamp around her head, and she felt the seeds along that spine pulse in response—not hunger, but satisfaction, a deep and ancient contentment that Katherine could feel in her own bones. "Come for me," she breathed against that tight rose, her tongue circling it one last time before diving back in. "Let me taste it."
Emily's body arched off the bed, a cry torn from her throat that was half his name—the old name, the one Katherine hadn't heard in months—and half something that sounded like a prayer. Katherine felt the clench of those muscles around her fingers, the flood of heat against her palm, and she drank it in, lapping at that slick entrance until Emily's hips finally stilled. She pulled her fingers free slowly, deliberately, and brought them to her lips, tasting the salt and the lavender and the raspberry, all of it mingled into something that belonged to this moment alone. Emily lay sprawled before her, chest heaving, red hair fanned across the pillow, and Katherine crawled up the length of that body to press a kiss to her forehead. "I think that's the best thing I've ever tasted," she whispered, and Emily's eyes fluttered open, dazed and full of wonder, and Katherine knew she would spend the rest of her life trying to make that look last.
Katherine rose from the bed, the silk of her robe falling open as she stood, and felt the cool air against her own heated skin. Her shaft stood heavy and full between her thighs, the sight of it—that part of her that had once been a stranger's gift and was now simply hers—making Emily's dazed eyes go wide and dark. She watched the redhead's gaze travel down her body, lingering on the thick length of her, on the bead of precum already glistening at the tip, and she felt the answering pulse in her own belly. "You're staring," Katherine said, her voice low and amused, and Emily's laugh was breathless, wrecked, the sound of a woman still floating on the aftershocks of what Katherine had given her.
"I want you to fuck me," Emily said, and the words landed like a strike on a bell, clear and certain. Katherine felt the shift in the air between them, the way Emily's body turned on the bed, presenting herself—the curve of her spine, the swell of her ass, the dark red curls still slick from Katherine's tongue. "In the ass. Tonight. Not like that other time, not in that half-awake haze where I wasn't sure if I dreamed it." Emily's voice cracked on the last word, and Katherine saw the truth of it in her eyes: three months ago, in the dim hour before dawn, she had reached for Emily in her sleep and found that opening with her fingers, and Emily had woken gasping, and neither of them had spoken of it since. "I want to feel you claim every part of me. I want to know it's real."
Katherine's mind raced beneath the calm surface of her face: this was not the husband she had known, not the woman who had poured herself into cold hospital walls, but something braver and more honest than either. She crossed the short distance to the bed, her shaft brushing against Emily's thigh, and felt the redhead's whole body shudder at the contact. "You're sure?" she asked, her voice rough, and Emily's answer was to reach back and part herself with both hands, offering that tight rose to her like a gift she had been saving. Katherine's breath caught at the sight of it—the puckered muscle still glistening from her tongue, the way it fluttered with each of Emily's shallow breaths—and she leaned in, pressing the head of her shaft against that entrance, feeling the resistance give way by slow, deliberate inches.
The sound Emily made was unlike anything Katherine had heard from her—a low, keening moan that seemed to come from somewhere deeper than her chest, a sound of surrender that made Katherine's own thighs tremble. She pushed forward slowly, feeling that tight muscle stretch around her, feeling the heat of Emily's body close around her like a fist, and she paused when she was halfway in, letting them both adjust to the newness of it. "God, you're tight," Katherine breathed, and Emily's laugh was broken, half sob. "I've never—" she started, then stopped, her fingers twisting in the sheets. "Not like this. Not awake. Not knowing exactly who I'm letting in." Katherine felt the words settle into her like a brand, and she began to move, slow and deep, her hands finding Emily's hips to guide the rhythm.
Each thrust pushed deeper, the slick heat of Emily's body gripping her in a way that was different from before—tighter, hotter, more intimate somehow, like being held by something that had never been held before. Katherine watched the redhead's spine curve, the seven seeds pulsing beneath her skin in rhythm with each stroke, and she felt the power in the room shift, the darkness in the walls humming in answer. "You feel that?" Katherine murmured, leaning over Emily's back, her lips against that sweat-damp shoulder. "You're not empty anymore. You're full of me." Emily's only answer was a moan, her hips pressing back to meet each thrust, and Katherine felt the edge of her own release building, the coil tightening in her belly as she drove deeper into that yielding heat. "I'm going to fill you up," she said, the words rough and honest. "I'm going to make sure you remember this—not the dream, not the haze, but this. Me. Claiming every inch of you."
Katherine's hand slid down the curve of Emily's spine as she drove deeper, her palm flattening against the warm skin between the redhead's shoulder blades. Beneath her touch, the seven seeds pulsed—but the rhythm had changed, no longer the steady hunger-beat she'd grown accustomed to feeling through Emily's body. It was faster now, almost eager, a flutter that seemed to reach toward something beyond the two of them. Katherine slowed her thrusts, her brow furrowing as she pressed her palm more firmly against that ridge of power, feeling the seeds respond like a struck chord vibrating up her arm. "Emily," she breathed, her voice catching. "What are they doing?"
Emily's answer was a long, shuddering exhale, her fingers loosening their grip on the sheets as she turned her head to look back over her shoulder. Her green eyes were hazy, pupils blown wide, but there was a thread of awareness in them that hadn't been there a moment ago—something listening, something tracking. "They're not hungry," she said slowly, the words coming out like she was tasting them. "They're... curious. Like they can feel something I can't." Katherine felt the cold before Emily finished speaking, a draft that had no business in this warm room, curling around her ankles like a hand reaching up from the floor. The velvet curtains didn't move. The woodsmoke scent didn't shift. But the temperature dropped, just enough to raise goosebumps along Katherine's arms, and she felt the darkness in the walls stir in answer to the seeds beneath her palm.
"The room," Katherine whispered, her shaft still buried deep inside Emily but her mind suddenly elsewhere, tracking the way the shadows in the corners seemed to deepen. "The power you left in the walls. It's still connected to you." Emily's body tensed beneath her, and Katherine felt the seeds pulse again—stronger now, a rhythm that matched something in the air itself. "I think," Emily said, her voice barely audible, "it's listening. The darkness in the walls is listening to us." The words landed like a stone in still water, and Katherine felt the weight of them settle into her chest. She looked down at the body beneath her—the flushed skin, the red hair fanned across the pillow, the spine that curved and pulsed with power she could never fully understand—and she felt the shift in the room like a third presence watching them.
She should pull out. She should stop. Every instinct of twenty years of measured decisions told her this was a moment to pause, to assess, to understand what they were dealing with. But Emily's hips rolled back against her, a slow, deliberate movement that made Katherine's breath catch, and the redhead's voice was rough when she spoke. "Don't stop. Whatever it's doing, it's not threatening. It's just... aware." Katherine looked into those green eyes, saw the trust there—absolute, unwavering, the trust of a woman who had poured herself into cold walls and been filled back up by Katherine's own body—and she made her choice. She began to move again, slow and deep, her palm still pressed against those pulsing seeds, feeling them beat in time with her thrusts. "Then let it listen," she murmured against Emily's shoulder, her voice low and fierce. "Let it hear exactly who you belong to."
The cold grew sharper as she drove deeper, the shadows in the corners stretching like they were leaning in to watch, and Katherine felt the seeds under her palm pulse in a rhythm that was no longer hunger and no longer curiosity—something older, something like recognition. Emily's moan filled the room, and the darkness seemed to drink it in, settling back into the walls like a satisfied thing. Katherine's own release crested, her body shuddering as she emptied herself into Emily, and she felt the seeds pulse one final time beneath her hand—a deep, resonant thrum that seemed to say yes, yes, this is what we were waiting for. She collapsed against Emily's back, her breath ragged, her palm still pressed to that warm spine, and she felt the cold recede like a tide pulling back from shore. But she knew, with a certainty that had nothing to do with magic, that the walls were not sleeping. They were waiting.
Katherine lay there, her cheek pressed against the damp skin of Emily's shoulder blade, her shaft still buried deep in that impossibly tight heat. She could feel Emily's heartbeat through her back, slowing gradually from its frantic peak, and beneath her palm the seven seeds had settled into a low, contented hum. "I felt it," she murmured, her lips moving against Emily's skin. "The way you clenched around me when I—" She didn't finish the sentence, didn't need to. The aftershocks still rippled through Emily's body in small, involuntary pulses, each one a reminder of what they had just done.
Emily shifted beneath her, a slow, sinuous movement that made Katherine's breath catch as her shaft slipped free with a wet sound that seemed too loud in the quiet room. The redhead rolled onto her back, her chest flushed and heaving, her green eyes hazy with a satisfaction that Katherine had never seen in them before—not in all their years together, not in all the forms this woman had worn. "You know what I realized?" Emily said, her voice rough and wondering, like she was still processing the discovery herself. She propped herself up on her elbows, looking down at the slick mess between her thighs, at the evidence of what Katherine had done to her. "It doesn't matter where you put it. Mouth, pussy, ass—" She laughed, a breathless, disbelieving sound. "The seed works no matter where it goes."
Katherine felt the words land in her chest like a stone in still water. She had known, of course, in the abstract—had felt the power surge through Emily's body each time she'd released inside her, whether it was down her throat in that supply closet or deep in her cunt that morning. But hearing Emily say it, hearing the wonder in her voice, made it real in a way that the sensation alone never had. She pushed herself up on one elbow, looking down at the woman beneath her, at the red hair fanned across the pillow and the flush that still painted her chest. "And the ass?" she asked, her voice low, needing to hear it confirmed. Emily's smile was slow, almost shy, a look that didn't belong on the face of a creature who had commanded darkness into walls. "I never in a million years imagined cumming from being fucked in the ass," she said, the words coming out like a confession. "Like a bitch in heat. That's what it felt like. Like my body just... opened up and took it, and I couldn't think about anything except wanting more."
Katherine felt her own body stir at the words, that heavy shaft between her thighs twitching with renewed interest. She traced a finger down Emily's sternum, between her breasts, over the soft swell of her belly, watching the muscles flutter beneath her touch. "I felt it too," she admitted, her voice thick. "When I came inside you—there, of all places—I felt the seeds drink it in. Not like before. Deeper. Like they were pulling it straight into your spine." Emily's eyes widened slightly, and Katherine saw the understanding flicker in them—the realization that this wasn't just pleasure, wasn't just intimacy. It was fuel. It was sustenance. It was the difference between the empty woman who had walked out of that hospital room and the radiant creature lying beneath her now. "So what does that mean?" Emily asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "For us?"
Katherine leaned down and pressed her lips to Emily's forehead, a gesture so tender it felt almost out of place after the raw animal intensity of what they had just done. "It means," she said slowly, her lips still against Emily's skin, "that I'm going to have to find every possible way to fill you up. For the sake of your power, of course. Purely medicinal." Emily's laugh was bright and genuine, cutting through the lingering darkness in the room, and Katherine felt the walls themselves seem to lighten in response. She pulled back just enough to look into those green eyes, and she saw the future stretching out before them—not the cold corridors of the hospital, not the weight of the power Emily carried, but this: the two of them, learning each other's bodies in ways they had never imagined possible, finding new languages of pleasure that fed something deeper than hunger. "I love you," Katherine said, the words simple and true. "In every form you've ever worn. But this—" She gestured at the flushed, satisfied woman beneath her. "This might be my favorite."
Emily's smile softened into something almost shy, and she reached up to cup Katherine's cheek, her thumb tracing the line of her jaw. "I love you too," she said. "Even when I was Dan, I never knew it could be like this.
Katherine felt the weight of those words settle into the quiet between them, and something shifted in her chest—not the familiar ache of twenty years of marriage, but a newer, stranger thing that had been growing since the night her husband had become this woman. She traced the line of Emily's jaw with her thumb, feeling the softness of skin that had once been rough with morning stubble, and she thought about all the ways this body had surprised her. The mouth that had taken her in the supply closet. The cunt that had gripped her that morning. The ass that had just opened like a secret she hadn't known she was keeping. "You know," she said slowly, her voice thoughtful, "I spent twenty years thinking I knew every inch of you. Every mood, every tells, every way you liked to be touched." She let her hand drift down Emily's neck, over her collarbone, resting at the hollow of her throat where she could feel the pulse still racing. "And now I'm discovering parts of you I never even dreamed existed. Parts you didn't know you had."
Emily's laugh was soft, almost wondering, and she turned her head to press a kiss to Katherine's palm. "I didn't know I had them either," she admitted. "Three months ago I was a man who'd never once wondered what it would feel like to have something inside him there. And now—" She shook her head, red hair spilling across the pillow. "Now I can't stop thinking about it. About how it felt when you pushed in. That stretch. That fullness. Like my body was built for it and just never told me." Katherine felt her shaft twitch again at the words, that heavy heat between her thighs stirring with renewed hunger, and she saw the answering awareness flicker in Emily's green eyes. "Don't look at me like that," Emily said, her voice dropping to a husky whisper. "We just finished. I need a minute."
Katherine chuckled, low and warm, and she rolled onto her back beside Emily, staring up at the ceiling where the shadows from the curtains danced in the candlelight. She could feel the aftermath humming through her own body—the pleasant ache in her thighs, the lingering sensitivity of her shaft, the deep satisfaction of having filled Emily in a way she never had before. "You know what I keep coming back to?" she said, her voice thoughtful. "Not the mechanics of it. Not even the pleasure, though God knows there was plenty of that." She turned her head to look at Emily, at the profile of that beautiful face limned in gold. "It's that you trusted me enough to let me take you there. To let me be the one who showed you what that part of you could feel."
Emily was quiet for a long moment, and when she spoke her voice was thick with something that might have been tears. "I've trusted you with everything, Katherine. My life. My secrets. The darkness I carry in my spine." She reached over and laced her fingers through Katherine's, squeezing gently. "Why wouldn't I trust you with my ass?" The absurdity of it broke the tension, and Katherine found herself laughing, genuine and bright, the sound pushing back against the lingering cold in the corners of the room. She rolled onto her side, propping herself up on one elbow to look down at Emily, at the woman who had been her husband, who had become something more, who had opened herself in ways neither of them had imagined possible.
"I'm going to take care of you," Katherine said, the words a promise she felt in her bones. "Every version of you. The one who pours herself into hospital walls. The one who commands darkness to sleep. The one who comes apart on my tongue and begs me not to stop." She leaned down and pressed a kiss to Emily's forehead, then her nose, then her lips—soft, unhurried, tasting the salt of her skin. "And if that means finding every possible way to fill you up, mouth and cunt and that tight little ass that seems to have been waiting for me all along—" She smiled against Emily's lips. "Then I'll consider it my sacred duty." Emily's answering smile was radiant, and Katherine felt the walls themselves seem to exhale, the darkness settling back into a patient sleep. Whatever the morning would bring—the clinic, Sarah, the weight of the power Emily carried—it could wait. Tonight, there was only this: the two of them, learning each other in ways that would take a lifetime to exhaust.
